'Understanding Ourselves, Respecting Others' is a project designed
for 11-12 year olds at Carrickfergus College. The project premise
is that these children live in a predominately protestant area
with poor interaction with other traditions, high socio-economic
deprivation, sectarianism and inter-Protestant community tension.
This highly participative project seeks to give these children an
opportunity to challenge their own as well as other cultures and
traditions, whilst engaging contemporaries from different
backgrounds. An appreciation of cross cultural traditions will
help these potential adult influencers and leaders break down
barriers and encourage a sense of responsibility for a better,
peaceful future. |
